Festival Echo "How Fuji Rock works to protect the environment"

Aiming for a 'harmonious coexistence with nature', Fuji Rock Festival works every year to protect the environment.

The issues facing the environment are no longer someone else's problem and must be faced by each and every one of us. The Fuji Rock Festval continues to work for this goal and to lessen the impact the festival has on the environment every year through many different projects.

"What Fuji Rock Does"

Through the creation of Fuji Rock Paper and the barrier free Boardwalk, The Fuji Rock Forest Project works to protect the forestland surrounding the festival venue. The New Power Village, powered by biodiesel fuels created by recycling oil, challenges people to switch to renewable energy sources and the NGO Village informs people and strives to give them a chance to act on a myriad of societal issues.

Earth Day, a day to think and act for our planet. It is an event held every April all over the world to increase awareness for the planet, environment and nature. "Earth Day Tokyo," one of the biggest public festivals in Japan, and recycles tempura oil into biodiesel fuel, as Fuji Rock does, to generate power for the event. Fuji Rock will have a booth at Earth Day Tokyo 2013, a place to express concerns for our planet. Come and get the latest news on Fuji Rock.

Date: April 20 (Sat), 21 (Sun)
Location: Yoyogi Park, Shibuya, Harajuku

Help us protect the forests surrounding the festival!

[Information for Groups interested in participating at the NGO Village]

The NGO Village area was started in the Avalon Field in 2000 to provide a space for people to discuss issues that face us today but are often not talked about. We are looking for NGO groups who wish to share their views and are looking for an environment to communicate our "task as a community" to festival goers through speaking to other NGO staff and holding work shops.
